Chicago was buzzing this summer as Gary McMillan Jr. transformed his birthday into a full-scale creative celebration with June 11 XXXV: Lights, Camera…GARY! The one-night event, held June 11, 2025, wasn’t just a party—it was a showcase of artistry, ambition, and storytelling that brought together films, performances, and a growing universe of original content under the GMJ Studios banner.
Highlights of the evening included the premiere of new projects such as “Warriors of the World” and “Interrogation 606,” along with teaser trailers that gave audiences a glimpse into the upcoming slate of GMJ productions. Each piece reflected McMillan’s unique blend of cinematic style, cultural roots, and bold creative risk-taking. The audience was treated not just to screenings, but to an atmosphere that felt closer to a sports championship or Hollywood premiere—energy high, branding sharp, and fans fully engaged.
Beyond the screen, the event underscored McMillan’s vision of building the GMJ Universe: a cross-platform ecosystem of films, series, merchandise, and digital products designed to uplift voices, celebrate diversity, and inspire creative independence. The showcase doubled as a proof of concept—demonstrating what one independent filmmaker and his dedicated community can accomplish with passion and vision.
Attendees left with more than entertainment; they left with a sense of momentum. McMillan positioned June 11 XXXV not as an endpoint, but as a launching pad for even bigger projects to come—leading directly into the 2026 milestone, June 11 XXXVI: Only Glory From Here.
